Brooks Hotel is a charming family-run boutique hotel in Edinburgh. When planning a recent extensive refurbishment, the owners found themselves with gently used furniture that was simply too good to throw away. They needed an ethical solution to remove it from the premises quickly with minimal hassle and they certinaly didn’t want it to end up in landfill.
Here’s where Edinburgh Furniture Initiative by Four Square comes in! Brooks Hotel, reached out to the Four Square team to generously donate their pre-loved furniture. As much of it was only six months old, they wanted to see it put to good use.
We were thrilled to help! Our donations manager quickly dispatched a team to collect the furniture free of charge from the hotel. It was then processed and put up for sale in our reuse store, Edinburgh Furniture Initiative, where the public is welcome to browse the affordable, quality items we have recouped.
Proceeds from the Brooks Hotel donation is expected to be around £4,000 providing vital funds for our Four Square charity, which supports people experiencing homelessness in Edinburgh.
Brooks Hotel representatives expressed delight in supporting Four Square and have indicated that they look forward to working with the charity again. We think this kind of forward-thinking approach to sustainability in business is inspiring. Brooks Hotel has helped a local charity but also kept Edinburgh’s furniture circulating within the community.
