Jumpstart is an innovative 13-week programme of work preparation and work skills training for disadvantaged young adults.
Who is jumpstart for?
Jumpstart is for young adults aged 16 to 30 who lack confidence or skills or have limited or no previous experience of work. This includes school leavers, care leavers, young tenants and individuals with complex issues.
What does the jumpstart programme involve?
The 13-week programme combines accredited core competencies and skills training with a structured voluntary work placement and practical team project of community benefit. It provides a solid introduction to the core disciplines, values and culture of the workplace.
What is the time commitment required?
Trainees accepted on the Jumpstart programme must be able to commit to attendance on 3 days a week (12 - 15 hours a week) for 13 weeks.
Benefits will not be affected and lunches, travel expenses and all training materials will be supplied.
What other support does jumpstart offer?
All Jumpstart trainees will have an individual training plan and receive ongoing support and supervision, careers guidance and exit strategy planning, including help to access new opportunities in education, training, volunteering or work.
